If i was you and happy with size of the build i will choose Masterton Aston design as it has guest room with on suite downstairs and L shape dinning and living area.. If base price is this then you might have to spend another 60 to 70k on top depending on what type of upgrade you choose. Was wondering how much was their base home price costs? You will find the same with most of the builders out there. Pretty sure builder is not entitled to the final payment until the build is finished to the plans and specifications AND an occupancy cert has been issued. Custom home is custom home no matter who is really designed it - an architect or just a house designer.

Having a an online spreadsheet where customer can "play" with the inclusions and see the price difference effect can be a good starting point. I have tried Metricon when I was looking for builders 6 months ago. Base price for Metricon is too low compare to other builders and inclusion in that price is low quality.

Haven't spoken with actual clients but my only basis are the reviews I read online. A friend build with Masterton in willowdale in 2017 and no issue with the house ,early on the build he had bad time dealing with them and build was delayed for 6 months but when supervisor changed he said the build was super fast. I have seen the inclusion which look good to me, if all that is provided then its worth I guess.
Since you know more than the rest of the world answer me this, without inclusions, how do clients compare builders, without inclusions, how do companies price. How specifically do you guys stand out when it gets to the build and design quality rather than set of standard inclusions? Will you be able to provide full list your existing customers and provide new potential customer an ability to interview ALL of them or at least some of them randomly? I am not even asking for the reports as none of the builders will be providing those, however, for a lot of people this kind of openness could become a deciding factor.

I advise you to join Metricon Facebook build group they have lots of information, on this forum no many users feedback. Good luck its look too expensive unless the build worth that much... Even being a reputable building consultant, there is always opportunity to learn more and start thinking out of box. Calling people's names and getting personal doesn't really increase your credibility here.
